Daniel Harris - Suicide Rates across the City

“A recent FOI request from South East Ambulance Service has sadly revealed a few alarming statistics around suicide trends, one figure which stood out was the number of dispatches for suicides for the BN2 postcode area:

2016 <10

2017 = 68

2018= 122

2019= 185

2020 = 168

2021 = 162

2022 = 160 so far

So in total, that is 875 ambulance dispatches for suicide for BN2!

The data speaks for itself and is just one postcode area.

What specific actions have been taken by the council and its mental health partners to find out the causes of suicides, in order to prevent them and stop the current alarming trend?“
